How Is a resin driveway installed?

In this video above you can see how a resin driveway is installed. This particular customer in Darlington already had an existing tarmac driveway which was in a suitable condition to overlay resin bound onto. However resin must be laid onto a suitable solid base so to extend the rest of the driveway we have installed block paving edge restraints and poured 100mm of fibre-reinforced concrete onto a compacted base of Type 1 Mot at a depth of 100mm for the areas which were not covered with the existing tarmac. After a suitable base like this has been prepared and cured the next part is to begin laying the resin driveway. There are a number of specialist tools used at this stage, the main one being a forced action mixer which forces all of the loose aggregates or stones to become fully coated in a polyurethane resin. The polyurethane resin binds the kiln dried aggregates together to form an incredibly strong bond with the key feature of being flexible allowing the stones to set completely without any loose stones or reflective cracking further into the driveway’s life expectancy. Now that the resin driveway base is prepared and the resin has been mixed it must be troweled onto the base by hand, making sure a firm pressure is applied to ensure all of the mix has been fully compacted and the finished resin bound driveway is as strong as possible.
